During last week I have been talking with some bright minds and have been alarmed by their misunderstanding regarding the peer-to-peer revolution, which has already happened and now we just experiencing ripple effect. They have been whining about “kids, who spend all their life online and what will they be when they will grow up?”. They already are and controlling huge market by short leash.

This blog entry should be viewed as some kind of wakening memo about what is going on to make them think what is going on. Do you know that we call real life meatspace now? And no, I am not talking about file sharing.

We are already downloading and buying music via Internet - this is not news. By doing that we change focus of money flow from publishing companies to musicians and artists and here we are talking about huge money which are distributed in more fair way (as we understand it) as creators get the lion share. You think you get reverse the progress? Don’t. It won’t happen. It is better to get out of that business now. The same is happening with movie industry, flock of humans are trying to take control over it and it will succeed eventually.

We do not watch television, do not read newspapers and do not listen to the radio. Why bother? There is just no need to do that anymore. All we need is a laptop and mobile phone to have it with us. And you cannot even sell ads to us.

We used to go to market places and shops to buy stuff we need. Not anymore. E-bay and other online systems are our first choice because we can control them. Brands are loosing value, as we rely on prosumers more and more. Don’t listen to marketing bullshit, that brands are worth more now than it has been before.

We used to by contacts from the companies, which are collecting them. Go to clubs, parties to meet people we could use for our own purposes. Not anymore - just sign in to LinkedIN and the problem is solved. It is just much faster, convenient and easier. Old wolfs are saying that one phone call or meeting face to face is worth more. Well, this is just because they are old. Prepare this to change.

We used to go to banks and let ourselves to be humiliated by their loan policies and so on. Not anymore - now we lend money to each other and trying to bypass old and ancient systems. We are just taking over the control.

We do not go to clubs to meet people, we are meeting them online and then go to clubs to relax. Dating has never been easier and you really must show something fundamental you have in your profile to be seen as we do not trust looks anymore (too much choice).

Remember those kids, that you do not understand more, because they have high speed pass to information when they need it and with opinions, reviews, various perspectives that were not available when we were growing and imagine what kind of virtual corporations will be created in 20 years or so, with virtual people working there, using services of virtual lawyers, IT consultants and nannies.
